Step 1: Visit login.gov to create your account
Enter your best email to create your account

Once you click this link in the email you will be asked to create a strong password:

Choose your primary authentication method: you may probably want to use text or voice message:

Now you can go on to add a second method as a backup.

Next, visit usajobs.gov and either create a new profile with the same email you just used at login.gov or link your existing profile. Click on the “sign in” button you see at the top (marked with red arrows):

You will be shown this screen to confirm whether to link your account. Confirm your email address (it should be the one you just used at login.gov). Then click on ‘Agree and continue’:

You can upload documents (size up to 5MB) in one of the following formats: GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, RTF, TXT, PDF or Word (DOC or DOCX).
However, I highly recommend you upload your resume in PDF or Word format to make it searchable.

- Only Word documents like text-based pdfs, Word files, and resumes created using ‘The Resume Builder tool’ are searchable.
- If your profile is complete, your profile will also be searchable.
- When you find a job, you can also create and apply with a custom resume to boost your chances of success
